For Advanced Members…
Those members well along in their own Austin-Austen line research benefit from the rich
data resources available in the AFGS publications. In addition to the newsletter, AFGS publishes
well-indexed hardcovered books with Austin-Austen historical and genealogical articles submitted by members. Austin military records, marriage records, cemetery records, census records, etc. fill the pages of
the AFGS books and newsletters. Austins of America Volume 1 has
over 18,000 persons and 4000 places in its comprehensive index. One especially valuable resource is the "Austins in the Federal Census of 1850"
series researched by volunteer members, for the 1850 census was the first to list the names, ages, and
birth states of all individuals. When members have completed their own Austin-Austen research, they often submit it as an article for
publication in the Society's newsletter, the Austin Families
Register (formerly called Austins of America), including any photos they might have of their children,
themselves, their parents, grandparents, etc. This is an excellent no-expense way for members to share
their Austin-Austen line research information with other researchers, while preserving
their research and photographs for their own grandchildren and posterity. |
