Canterbury Cathedral
-- where Archbishop Thomas Becket was murdered in 1170 by four knights loyal to Henry II. As recorded in the classic Canterbury Tales by Geoffrey Chaucer, pilgrimages to St. Thomas' tomb were popular until 1538 when King Henry VII destroyed the shrine to St. Thomas in the Trinity Chapel within the Cathedral
