Frequently Asked Questions

How can I submit my Austin line information to the AFGS files and Library?

If you already have your Austin information on your computer, the easiest way to submit it to AFGS and the AARC would be to mail us a floppy disk or a CD-ROM (either a CD-R or CD-RW format). Or you can submit it directly via the Austin Document Submission Via Internet form. Any popular file format (Microsoft Word, WordPerfect, RTF, GEDCOM, PDF, Text File, etc.) would be fine.

If your Austin line is available in “paper” format, we would greatly appreciate a photocopy of it for the AFGS files, which are used to help us answer queries and make our publications more complete and accurate. Please mail it to: Austin Families Genealogical Society, 23 Allen Farm Lane, Concord MA 01742-2202.

How can I submit my Austin line information to the AFGS Austin-Austen Research Center?

The same as above, just request that the information you submit to AFGS be included in the AARC. as well as the AFGS files. Electronic documents are easiest to input to the AARC, and your contact information will appear at the bottom of each page (if you want it to be) so others interested in your line can contact you. Paper documents can be digitized by our Staff for the AARC.

Why don't the names and addresses of Querists appear in the Austins of America and the Austin Families Register newsletters?

People sometimes move, and they frequently change their e-mail address. When you want to contact Querists, simply e-mail Queries@austins.org and request their contact information. AFGS will provide you the Querist's name and latest snail-mail and e-mail addresses from the AFGS files. This approach also makes the AFGS Staff aware of your Austin line interest or knowledge, and we may be able to provide you with other contacts for your Austin line, which is especially helpful if the Querist is deceased, or moved without leaving a forwarding address.
